What exactly are you buying when you buy a game in the alpha / beta category? Do you just get the game as it exists at that time? Or does your purchase also include the finished version of the game?

Normally you'd buy the final product as well including
anything specific like 'Steam key', 'Soundtrack' or
'all future episodes'.

Alphas need some extra taking care with as often
they're quite raw. Some to the point of being not
much more than the engine. Basically an alpha is
often what you'll find at Kickstarter and such if
there's anything at all playable.

Betas you could very well just consider 'open'
betas. The pre-release version that is going to
Quality Assurance for bug testing, balancing,
stress-testing and such. QA is expensive so it's
not an option for lots of devs, hence the discount.

Hope this helps :P

To further clarify, Yes when you buy an Alpha/Beta it includes:
-All future updates
-Steam, Desura keys if/when they get on those platforms
-The full final release candidate

Thanks, that cleared it up for me.

So if I sell a game, and it starts off in alpha / beta for a month, or even the regular store. Is it allowed to go to the Featured 96 Hour Deal page after?

You will have to get info from canj or mgnade, but I am sure that if schedule permits, it will be featured at some point (provided that your game is up to their standards or has that potential )

We love featuring games in alpha/beta since it helps fund development and increase exposure about a new game in the pipeline.
