Game: Didgery
Developer: Lotus Games
Platforms: Windows, Xbox 360
Distribution: DRM-Free, Coming to Desura
Price: $1 (on Indievania), may go up with the huge new updates.

It's not a "card game" it's a puzzle game.

This game is great. It really is.

Unfortunately, nobody plays it. Whether that's a product of the card aesthetic or poor marketing, I don't know. However, the developer just posted a really interesting video where he discusses some of the barriers to people playing Didgery, and how he will be approaching updates to make it more accessible to people, and (hopefully) generate some more popularity. Please watch below before you vote! (Also one of the things he mentioned is that the trailer isn't very good, and he's right)

The developer is a really awesome guy, and he made a really awesome game. I think an IndieGameStand feature could work wonders for helping him get the upcoming improved Didgery the attention it deserves.

This game looks like... a card game! HAH!
It really needs a better trailer with voice overs explaining what's going on. Could be an amazing game for all I know, but I need more information to form an educated opinion on this game.

Yeah, the trailer needs a lot of work. It's one of the thing the developer said he's working on for the new version. You should watch the twitter video I posted, he's pretty cool.

Hey guys, developer here.

I've got a Let's Play rendering right now. The video should be up on YouTube in several hours. I'll post when it's live. It should make it obvious what the game is like, and if it is the type of game you guys would like to play.

You are the best GnomeSlice! Thanks for all the support!

I think first thing developer need to do is to at least release this game NOT on IndieVania, cause indieVania is a dump with no signs of improving. ( i was a customer some time, and jut got tired of constant problems and bugs)
Second, its really looks like i card game from first sight, and this not adds chances to be purchased...

But.. but I don't want to girdle my loins :*(

Can't tell that well, but seems like a twist on solitaire, to be fair.
Intrigued, but not convinced yet ;)

Alright, the 'Let's Play' is now live on YouTube. This should make it pretty clear what the game is like, and if it is something you guys would be interested in playing or not. I'm working on a better trailer as well. There will be no loin girdling in the new one, promise!

The reason you're not seeing the video isn't your fault. It is there.

The reason is this is an https:// site but has unsecure items. You have to allow the page to load "unsafe scripts". It has been a recent change, either with IGS or with Chrome and maybe other browsers.

Ah, that did the trick, thanks! One would think that Chrome would make it a little more obvious on what was going on. Had to click a tiny shield icon on the URL to load the unsafe scripts. I never would have noticed it had you not brought it to my attention.

It's in Chrome. Happens on all the sites I've visited that use https:// and have embedded youtube videos. I'm assuming youtube embeds don't use https://

No, problem is on forum as is. While its running over SSL youtube links is inserted as http, use https, thats all.
ANd similar blocking is now used in Firefox too, only thing that allow me to ignore problem is that my browser enforce https on any compatible sites using httpsanywhere addon.

I don't have any issues with it in Firefox, Opera or Dolphin (mobile) but then I do manage
flash rubbish, scripts and assorted leaky stuff stricter by default.

Even though this game is currently only $1 on Indievania, I'd much rather have it featured on IGS so I can purchase it for the same price here. Indievania has a horrible track record of updating games, and I would not want to count on them to provide updates for this. Particularly since the developer seems to be interested in adding some very interesting features to the existing game.

Just finished the new trailer. I tried to make it more direct and to the point. As promised, there is no loin-girdling ;)

Good! The new video goes straight to the point!

Also I had trouble finding the game website... is twitter the only link available? Also is a linux version possible in the future. I kind of miss a bit of casual games on linux.

Didgery does have a website, but it isn't up to date yet: http://www.dream-forever.net/Games/Didgery/ I always find it stupidly difficult building a game and keeping up a website at the same time. I'm going to try and update it in a few days...actually, I'm going to get on it now.

I do have plans to release Didgery on Linux, but it may be sometime in 2014 before I have the time to do a proper port. Right now Didgery is written in XNA 3.1. The plan is to convert it to MonoGame to make it cross platform. The challenge is that MonoGame is based on XNA 4.0, which did a good number of breaking API changes. Didgery has a surprisingly large code base, so a port is not straight forward. Nevertheless, I have every intention of bringing Didgery to more platforms, and Linux is one of them.
