It sounds to me like Idiotekque is trying to be helpful to IGS by pointing out when a game has been bundled elsewhere, and may be feeling a bit attacked or belittled by this discussion.
Idiotekque's and mgnade's stances feel very theoretical to me, so why don't we put them to the test?
Idiotekque, what if next time you see a game in the suggestions thread where you think a previous bundle is relevant to the suggestion, you speak up and point it out. Then, mgnade and the rest of the community will have to decide if your post is disruptive or (more likely) just another opinion on the internet. I am interested in an example, because I'm not really sure where I fall on the discussion.
Good idea? Bad idea?
(I'm sometimes a little out of touch about whether my suggestions are too forceful, so if you find offense in my post, it wasn't intended.)
Well, of course. I like IGS, I've been here since they started (just not on the forums from the start), and I want them to succeed. I also want them to offer the most appealing games possible, since I'm a customer and I'm discerning about what I buy.
That said, I previously did offer my opinion on certain games that were up for discussion on a thread. The games were Pushcat, Project X, Drod RPG, etc. I just looked now, however, and I see that the long, detailed post I gave back then, weighing in on which games I thought were the most appealing and which weren't, was deleted. In that post, I simply added next to certain games that they weren't as appealing to me because they had been previously bundled. I didn't link any bundles at that time.
So yeah, I don't know what to say. That kind of stance towards things is rigid, frustrating to customers, greedy, and overall counter productive. I'm glad the admins/mods are looking into being a little more forthcoming and understanding, but seeing that my post that I put a good amount of time into to kindly recommend some games and discourage other games (since the thread was asking the users which games out of a handful looked the most appealing) was deleted? I can see this attitude and problem has been going on for awhile. That was a couple months ago.
I also just made a very long post on the last page, even detailing my recommendations on what games I thought would fit best and work well for IGS, but that either got skimmed over or ignored. In the end, IGS is nifty, but if the general attitude is going to be rigid, and suggestions are going to be glazed over, ignored, or deleted? There are many other indie bundle sites for me to take my business to, with more games, more appealing games, and oftentimes cheaper prices. I'm really not going to lose any sleep over this; if IGS doesn't like/appreciate my thoughts, that's fine, but I won't be keeping a very close eye here in that case.
