I will give you forum posters some more direction. You're thinking too "conventional" - this RPG is not in a fantasy/magic world. That should eliminate some guesses...

It has to be Krater! Also you only control a single character on Wanderlust Rebirth and I have to say I was disapointed with that game. Defender's Quest is more of a Tower Defense game with RPG elements but it's brilliant.

Why do you think so? I loved Serious Sam, and it looks great. A 2D RPG Serious Sam. Sound's awesome.

I kinda agree, but only because I already have the game. Haven't gotten around to trying Random Encounter but the other Serious Sam games have been pretty fun.

Indie developer, but not published by the developer. This is when we get into the gray area of "what is independent?". But, for unrelated reasons I will be passing this one up.

Well, first of all.. from what I've heard, the game is barely a RPG. Most of the game is a sidescroller with SHMUP action. 2nd, the beat the average bonuses are already available for free, no idea why they expect people to pay more for them. Third, doesn't seem to be a very good value, I've heard the game isn't even worth a dollar. I haven't actually played it yet, so I guess you should take my opinion with a grain of salt, but it just doesn't seem like a good deal. I think IGS should really work on their hints. I doubt most of us were thinking Serious Sam The Random Encounter when we saw the hint for "RPG" lol.

"sidescroller with SHMUP action" is definitely accurate, but the game does have RPG elements such as turn-based combat and RPG-style map exploration. And to be honest, not being biased, the game is pretty awesome in my opinion. The polished presentation and lighthearted story elements along with the fresh and action-packed gameplay experience make it a definite winner. If I was an award-giving entity I'd give this game an award.

Hint for next game: The next game has an average rating of 9.8 on Desura
I'm guessing it's Syder Arcade

@SCPM, that games says 9.6 for me, but the screenie that they posted matches up the rating on Syder Arcade (the two laser shots on by average rating) ;)

Hmm, it was 9.8 an hour ago, but that screen is pretty damning evidence. :)

Yeah, it's probably Syder Arcade. Good game, but another disappointment for me. Got it from the first greenlight bundle a while ago (and got a desura key from the dev).

Probably not.
They said on twitter some time ago that the next 3 of 4 games would be Steam games, since then 1 Steam game and one non-Steam, so the next 2 are probably Steam games.
