Snorms is an isometric third-person shooter. The game takes place over three episodes, two of which are finished (all included in the Desura purchase). It's touted as having an RPG-esque leveling system, which makes it of interest.

I tried the demo out some time ago (long before the game was completed) and I enjoyed it. Time to try it again I think!

From the Desura page:
Snorms features: player leveling, weapon upgrading, 41 maps (3 episodes), 22 enemies, 14 weapons, 10-15 hours of gameplay

My mistake, it looks like all three episodes are completed, and have been for some time (although the snorms website still says the game is in beta).

The Desura purchase includes all three episodes (sweet!).

Hi,

Thanks for suggesting Snorms, it would be a pleasure for me to appear on IndieGameStand :)

I've worked on an Android version of Snorms recently (tests are completed, release soon), so I rewrote quite a lot of things on Snorms too, which means there will be a big update very soon, version 2.0 (it is currently being validated by Desura staff).
it adds some nice features (top/isometric view selection, controller support, achievements, easier gameplay,...), improve performance, and corrects lots of small glitches/bugs. And, last but not least, I have changed the main character sprite (I had to do it for quite a long time)

The full Android version will be given for free for those who have the PC version, so of course it would be the same if I appear on IndieGameStand

Here's a screenshot of the Android version (top view only, for performance issues), it is called Alien Blitz

And an updated screenshot of the PC version

And the last trailer I finished yesterday :)

Hello there, first of all I want to say that I only played the demo of Snorms around the time when it poped up on Desura but since that time I knew the game was something I was looking for for a while now. With this update the game will definitely improve even more. It's also nice to know that you would like Snorms to be featured here on IGS and the addition of the Android version will, with no doubt, please alot of people, sadly I don't own an Android device but that might change eventually. Also, some people might be getting tired of "hearing" me saying that I just love pixel art so I'm in love with the visuals of Snorms. And last but by no means least, the music in that trailer is awesome, it reminds me of Doom for some reason but in my opinion it really nails in providing a nice ambience to the player.

Ok, i have question - there was several more developer before who given out android builds for purchaser, but they somehow tends to not update them after deal ended (one stuck even at beta version). I dont want to offend anyone, but is there probability you will not do same?
That about game - its looks impressive, i anticipate it.

I don't know how these developpers managed their release, but there are two things that can make the difference
* I don't consider the Android version a "beta-version", I worked a lot on it, and it is fully achieved, so, except for bug fixes, it won't require that much updates
* In order to give this Android version I am using the same process for everyone: custom keys, users from desura and press. Sadly it is not possible to directly give Google Play keys, but as you can see this process might be used by a huge number of people (including press) so I will have to keep it updated. I don't know how IndieGameStand handles Android distribution, but if it is possible to give desura keys, then even if I forget to update it here, it will always been updated on Desura.

I must admit that I had some hard time updating Snorms, being an Indie Game developer is not very easy :) and sadly I had to find a job shortly after Snorms Desura release, which slowed down updates a lot.

Thanksfully I now have a lot more time to work on Snorms (and other games), so I spent the last 3-4 months updating Snorms and porting it to Android. I am now very pleased with my work, Snorms was missing some features, and gameplay was sometimes confusing. Now I really consider it fully completed, and I will also work a lot more on promotion within next weeks.

Btw, I love doom games, I still play Doom I-II nowadays :) and there lots of references to doom in Snorms, the trailer music is not used in-game (might be a little too "fast") but there are other nice music by Kevin MacLeod that also reminds me of Doom

As far as i know, IGS have android apks like any file, with need to direct download...i would prefer things like humble android app, but its too early for IGS.

That's the problem with android files, if only google would allow developpers to generate Google Play keys for their app.

Humble bundle uses a custom app for distributing the games, but I guess developpers also have to manually update the humble APK , so problem is similar (but it is easier for customer to received updates)

Well,I have crazy idea, that's probably impossible to do - put game in humble store and then (if possible) use gift keys to humble store to use their distribution system for android games
In any way, thanks for efforts, we really loking into having this game here.

IGS loves to give out Desura keys, most of the past deals have had them. We've had some Steam keys, and one feature even handed out GOG keys as well!

The new version is now available on Desura, and more important I've updated the demo version.
The new demo has a lot more content than the previous one (it's the full episode 1), so you can check it if you want to be sure the game is good enough for IGS!

(you don't need an account to download the game, just click on Snorms Demo > standalone downloads, if you are on linux you need to rename *.tar.1.gz to *.tgz, I don't know why Desura messed with the file names)

I had been wondering exactly this for some time, but I thought it was the developers who chose filenames like these... I must've imagined it was the system itself who did it.

Just checked out the demo and this is great! There are a couple of typos in the text ('ride' should be 'rid' for example), but nothing major. Graphics are nice, gameplay is sharp, and the music suits the game very well. Great stuff!

My only real gripe is that the graphics don't seem very stable when you're moving around; I'm getting a lot of tearing, in both windowed and fullscreen modes.

@muntdefems
The developer chooses the name, but in this case it was renamed automatically, I don't know why
I've uploaded some new files, but they are awaiting validation

@GnomeSlice
Indeed, I didn't see that one, I try to be very careful with these typos, but English is not my native language, so I still make some mistakes

I didn't get any tearing during tests, that's weird, vsync is enabled but it seems there's some tricky stuff to do in the library I am using. By default it seems to be syncing to CPU (?) instead of screen, I will change that right away, thanks for reporting ^^

Last update fixed it for me, thanks!
