So I got dishonored for Christmas and am not loving it. It has decent graphics, an interesting story and the missions are certainly open-ended but I don't find the game particularly fun to play. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm losing interest and not having much fun with this one.

I actually don't have it yet but it's on my list for the next major games I want to play. Maybe you are not finding it fun because you might be just playing it because you want to progress in the story or in the missions, maybe you should put it aside and play it when you feel like it. If it's getting bored you should stop playing it even if you want to know how it ends. It might aswell just not be "your game". ;)

Mike, great post.

I rented Dishonored on XBOX and found the game to be incredibly boring and a huge letdown. It felt like it raped the graphics from Bioshock and was too linear to tout itself as some kind of "do whatever you want" kind of game. It also overly rewarded stealth play (which I played as). Ultimately, after 5 hours of gameplay I stopped playing and couldn't convince myself to continue playing. It seemed more like work than enjoyment, so I returned it and vowed to not buy it until a MAJOR sale ($5).

There has been some major division in the "stealth" gaming community over this game, I played Thief, Splinter Cell on the release dates as well as Hitman (I'm speaking of the original releases in all cases). I can't quite nail it down, maybe the over-hype? Anyway, I just didn't want to continue playing this game. It was simply too boring and I can't definitively say why.

I agree with whatevery said.

I don't know if it's the game that I didn't get hooked into, or it is just my pref for games now. A lot of people do/did like that game, and it got great reviews from sites I have some respect for. I wanted to like it, wanted to love it even, but it didn't happen.

:(

I'm glad that I'm not alone in this. Letdown and disappointed is definitely the right way to describe my experience. Good news is that it was an Amazon flash deal so only $25 was spent on it. It might be time to look at what it's going for on Half.com. I still haven't beaten AC3 and would much rather play that for stealth/assassinations.

I really liked it BUT I did not go in looking for a true stealth do what you like game. Its a game by Harvey Smith(whom I kinda adore) and so I went in looking for a steam punk deus ex/system shock/bioshock of sorts.

I was very much hmm about it, up to a week a so before release and then I read about how they had to change a level because a guard said you weren't allowed upstairs and the testers took him at his word and never went upstairs.

Its very much a point A to point B game in design and a lot of bad reviewers talked about the do what ever you want but its similar to how Deus Ex/Bioshock did it, you choose how you want to play, but you must do the mission steps.

If you play it as stealth only I think it could be boring, I had blink and the jump/sprint boost only and I ran along the roofs and had great fun dropping and stabbing.

Wow, thx for saving me some money since Dishonored was on my wishlist. Any other recent stealth game worth playing?
Just no Absolution or AC3 please.

Yeah, Mark of the Ninja is on my wishlist as well :)
However i heard it`s more of a fast action platformer with hiding ;) than a stealth game, is it truth or not ?

BTW you might want to give Private Infiltrator a try if you like stealth games. Or just if you like the noire music ;) its really awesome. In regards to gameplay its also nice however i didn`t spend much time on this game yet.

It would actually be great if you could help the Dev of that game to get more publicity, i know it is struggling on Greenlight.

And would you be able to confirm ;) if its worth the current price (15 Euro)? I am wondering how long does it take to finish it/ is there fun in replaying it?

I don`t expect any soon sale on Mark of The Ninja since it`s pretty popular :).

I would say it's worth it, but eventually it will show up in some bundle or in a sale on Steam. It really depends if you really want to play it now or you are willing to wait for a price drop and pick it up by then.

I've actually repeatedly seen it on sale via Steam for 50% off.

Odd, I really enjoyed Dishonored. My only complaint: There are two endings, the good you get by killing as few people as possible, the bad you just go on a killing spree. Now if you're like me, you go for the good ending, however, there are only 2 different ways to KO people without killing them: Sleeping darts and choking them out. However there are about a bagillion ways to kill people: Guns, swords, traps, grenades, crossbow darts, probably a few others as well. It's almost as though they want you to get the bad ending. They need a bigger variety on just KOing people. Other than that though, I really enjoyed it. Thing is, a lot of the game is exploring, if you don't explore a lot you can completely miss certain events.

I can respect others opinions, but I suggest watching youtubes and what not before making a decision on purchasing it.
